Hermia loves Lysander, but her father's wish is that she marry Demetrius. Hermia and Lysander elope into the woods. Demetrius follows them and Helena follows Demetrius, whom she loves. Meanwhile, Titania (Florence Turner), the queen of the fairies, quarrels with another fairy, Penelope, who orders a junior fairy called Puck (Gladys Hulette) to find a magic herb that will cause a sleeper to love the first creature he sees upon awakening. Soon Lysander and Demetrius are smitten with the wrong girls and Titania has fallen in love with a tradesman turned into a donkey. When Penelope discovers all this mischief, she lifts the spell.
